I read the article (Below) in The Hindu today and felt great about this student who has indeed done something great. Rightfully he has been acknowledged for his work and chosen by UN for an award.

I really like the way students get themselves involved in several social activities these days. During my school days it was nothing but a SUPW.

Last week I was invited by a student organisation(AISEC) to speak about Yi.  These AISEC students do a lot of leadership building activities and at the same time do a great amount of societal conscious activities. It was very heartening to see that lots of students these days do much more of societal activities than it used to be earlier( may be I wasn’t that conscious those days.. 🙂

And here’s the article about a student who has done something wonderful in this young age….. Way to go Chaitanya..

HYDERABAD: It is a moment of pride for Abhyasa Residential Public School in Toopran in Medak district.

M. R. S. K. Chaitanya, a class XII student from the school has been chosen for the ‘Laureate of the Youth Assembly Award for Excellence’ by the United Nations in recognition of his community work. He is the only Indian among 10 awardees for the year 2007.

He will receive the award on the occasion of 4th Annual Youth Assembly at the UN office in New York. Chaitanya, who was the brain behind ‘Arpan- the Gram Seva’, a community service initiative taken up by the school, led the group effort to bring back many child labourers to schools and to conduct de-addiction camps and AIDS awareness programmes in Toopran.
