Shankar is confused

After 12 long days of release of Sivaji the BOSS, I was fortunate to watch our thalaivar movie.

IMHO Shankar was virtually non existent in the movie.. except for the grandeur sets for the songs. He should thank his stars as this movie will definitely be a super duper hit – purely on the merits of Rajini. Thalaivar simply rocks in the movie.

However, I would like to thank Shankar for one reason. Just for portraying thalaivar wonderfully. How young the BOSS looks. Nothing else is needed (including Shankar) in the movie except Rajini‘s appearance. The mottai boss, Rajini’s comedy, style, charisma , and everything. His switch from the cigerette to chiklette is astounding. The way he tosses it on the villains forehead onto his mouth, the way he plays with the one rupee coin…its truly thalaivar all the way from the beginning to the end.

The Motta Boss

Vivek is a big plus. He was completely in his elements and is definitely going to get his sagging career back on track. Every scene he was there gave the necessary tickles. The height of it is where he says looking at kanal kannan “ivan thalaila yaaro kaara kozamba oothintaangappa” .. πŸ™‚

Vivek

Shreya looks simply too good. Glamor to the core. She is just hot. But I just cant stand that she has to wave a red thavani to save thalaivar. Anyway, it is not her fault.

The songs are just about OK. AR Rahman definitely needs to come out with something good for Thalaivar. But the picturisation and sets for the songs are awesome. Especially for “Sahana” song the sets are fantastic. The picturisation of “Athiradee” song is toooooo goood. This is exactly how a thalaivar fan would like to see him.

Athiradee
Suman as a villain is OK. But the plot lacks depth. Again Shankar is left wanting. The scenes of “Office Room” were actually getting monotonous. The fight scenes were also not befitting Rajini.

The scene which in my opinion gets the lowest rating is when Shreya asking the CBI agent “En Purushanoda uyirukku oru abathum illanu Sathiyam pannunga”. shucks.. this was really horrible. Was Shankar trying to show her so naive? or childlike? Whatever he was trying, it was just miserable.

Overall Shankar has tried several bits and pieces which he just had no clue of what it was like. Thanks to Rajini for providing a wholesome entertainer.

Shankar should have done his homework before signing thalaivar.
