The Girl child

I read this devastating article of a girl infant being buried alive. Thank god it was saved which is a miracle.

I just cant believe that human beings can do this. I will have to correct myself. If they have done such a thing they are not human beings. Barbarians probably. How can the mother or the father even think of doing such a devilish act?

I have read several such articles of female feticide and even doctors being involved in such things.

Infact a friend of mine had made a documentary “Gender Bender” for the girl child. She goes on to bring some startling revelations. If the same level of female feticide continues, by 2020 we will have a male / female ratio of 80: 20. Also I am given to understand India has lost 1% GDP growth for the last 20 years on account of female feticide and infanticide.

She goes on to show some solution. If women in the under privileged section are getting economically independent, they can go on to fight this social injustice within the family and the society.

I wish such programs are taken up on a large scale and in every nook and corner of the country.

I know I cant achieve this by just writing in the blog, but atleast spread an awareness and hopefully lot of people taking up initiatives in this area.
